Ammar Alqamash is a Yemeni self-taught visual artist born and based in Qatar. He is the co-founder of Photo Art Qatar and Photo Art Global, organising photo walks and creative meet ups as well as workshops in design, art, and photography. Through these initiatives, Ammar hopes to introduce art to all communities to promote and encourage social unity.

Exploring Msheireb Downtown in the heart of Doha, Ammar visits the Baraha area, the Bin Jalmoud Museum and Msheireb Mosque, capturing picturesque sights and views with his camera.

There is a difference between a beautiful place and a beautiful photo. - Ammar Alqamash

Sharing tips on composition and spotting photogenic moments, Ammar highlights the patterns through light and shadow to be found in Doha’s urban cityscape, discovering new corners and perspectives through the art of photography.

He explained “Sometimes we encounter a beautiful subject on the street and we, as photographers, have to capture it from different angles to choose the best one later.”

“Places change with time. The photo is captured as the lighting and the shapes of the shadows change and this can help me take a beautiful picture.”
