Benchellal - Monumental Sculpting Past Tomorrow

The National Museum of Qatar presents Benchellal: Monumental "sculpting past tomorrow," the first museum solo exhibition dedicated to the work of Moroccan-Dutch designer Mohamed Benchellal.

The exhibition features a new collection of couture dresses designed and crafted during the designer's Artist Residency at Liwan Design Studios and Labs, inspired by Qatar's landscape.

The exhibition explores Benchellal's distinctive fusion of futuristic Middle Eastern aesthetics with traditional couture, while addressing the importance of sustainability and slow fashion. Best known for exceptional draping and use of sustainable materials, his garments reflect the harmony between craftsmanship and environmental responsibility.

Benchellal's journey with Qatar began in 2021 when he received the Fashion Trust Arabia Award from Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser at the museum, leading to his transformative residency at Liwan where these exhibition pieces were created.
