Ubud Food Festival 2023
As part of Qatar-Indonesia 2023, the Years of Culture initiative has partnered with the Ubud Food Festival in Bali. The festival weekend also coincides with a three-week-long culinary journey through Indonesia, undertaken by leading Qatari chefs Noof Almarri and Hassan Al Ibrahim, who will also participate in the festival events programme.
Welcoming local and internationally renowned chefs, food writers, farmers, filmmakers, entrepreneurs and food lovers for a celebration of Indonesian gastronomy, the 2023 edition of Ubud Food Festival is shaping up to be more exciting than ever!
Ubud Food Festival Programme
After the private Gala Opening event, visitors to the 2023 Ubud Food Festival will be able to experience food tours and tastings, masterclasses with leading chefs, educational talks, film screenings, live cooking demonstrations, competitions and more. Other highlights include a programme of specially curated events showcasing local Balinese, Indonesian and International cuisine.
This year’s official festival theme, soil, is a tribute to where our food begins, exploring the natural resource that provides 95% of the food we eat on earth. This important subject will be explored throughout the three-day festival from panel discussions with experts to conversations around soil and sustainability.
Qatari Chefs at Ubud Food Festival
After experiencing the best of Indonesian gastronomy during their three-week journey across Indonesia, Qatari chefs Noof Almarri and Hassan Al Ibrahim will showcase their skills as well as what they have learned on their travels as part of the Ubud Food Festival 2023.
The Qatari chefs will participate in a panel discussion titled Food For Thought: Culinary Crossroads between Qatar and Indonesia, exploring the similarities between Middle Eastern cuisine and Indonesian food, alongside Indonesian chefs Devina Hermawan and Charles Toto.
Chef Noof Almarri will also give a cross-cultural cooking demonstration and dining experience at Teater Kuliner with Papuan chef Charles Toto from Jayapura, supported by the Qatar-Indonesia 2023 Year of Culture.
