The spotlight turned to Moroccan artistry on December 4 as the Dar Al Maghrib Pavilion at MIA Park welcomed guests to the Caftan Fashion Show to celebrate the timeless creativity of Moroccan design. The evening offered audiences a visual feast of traditional craftsmanship blended with modern innovation.
Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa Bint Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairperson of Years of Culture, alongside HRH Princess Lalla Hasna of Morocco, presided over the event. Together, they witnessed a showcase of Morocco’s most iconic garment – the caftan.
Ten celebrated Moroccan designers brought their visions to life on the runway, each presenting ten unique creations that honoured the elegance of Moroccan heritage while pushing the boundaries of contemporary design. Among the highlights were:
The show also featured presentations from Zineb Joundy, Fouzia Naciri, and Houda Serbouti, each bringing their unique creative flair to the traditional caftan styles.
Guests were greeted with traditional Moroccan hospitality that set the tone for the evening. The Dar Al Maghrib Pavilion’s façade came alive with cutting-edge projection mapping, creating a visual journey through Morocco’s visual heritage. Complementing the runway show, the RANINE ensemble – featuring Sanaa Marahati and Marouane Hajji – delivered stirring musical performances that celebrated the different regions of Morocco.
This special evening was more than a fashion show; it was a testament to the enduring beauty of Moroccan artistry. Through intricate embroidery, luxurious fabrics, and innovative design, the caftan became a vehicle for storytelling, bridging generations and cultures.
