In the Autumn of 2021, during the Qatar - USA 2021 Year of Culture, Qatar Museums presented Jeff Koons: Lost in America at QM Gallery Al Riwaq in Doha. 

Curated by Massimiliano Gioni, Lost in America featured more than sixty artworks selected from the artist’s career spanning four decades, giving an impressive insight into the life and work of one of the best-known contemporary American artists.

The exhibition gave visitors a unique experience of the artist’s exceptional career, bridging Pop, Minimalism and the readymade.

About The Exhibition

Koons’ first show of its kind in the Gulf region, each of the 16 gallery rooms that made up the exhibition was introduced by an autobiographical text, compiled from interviews, statements, and quotes by the artist, emphasising his memories, influences and fascination with American visual culture.

Lost in America featured some of the artist’s best-known works from series’ including The New (1980–87), Banality (1988), Celebration (1994–), Popeye (2002–13) and Antiquity (2008–), as well as more recent works shown to the public for the first time during this special exhibition.
