Friendly Charity Football Match
Red Square, Moscow
In celebration of Qatar-Russia 2018 Years of Culture, a friendly football match was held between officials, artists and media professionals from both nations at the 2018 FIFA World Cup Park of Football at the Red Square in Moscow.
Organised in collaboration with the Artist Foundation, and Rosich Sports Club, this cross-cultural sporting event brought together Russia, the host country for the World Cup in 2018 and Qatar, the host country for the next edition of the tournament in 2022.
The Qatar Team represented a number of eminent personalities including Secretary-General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy Hassan al-Thawadi, Chairman of Qatar Tourism Authority Hassan Abdulrahman al-Ibrahim, Rashed al-Quraisi from Qatar Tourism Authority, Public and international relations director at Qatar Museums Mohamed al-Othman, Saoud al-Dulaimi from the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, and Faisal al-Tamimi from the Ministry of Culture and Sports and from Media sector Mohamed Saadoun al-Kuwari and Abdulaziz al-Nasr.
The charity match highlighted problems of theatre and cinema veterans and demonstrated how people from different professional and cultural backgrounds can come together for a common purpose.
