Archaeological Lectures - From Islamic Art to Underwater Heritage
Qatar Museums organised a series of lectures highlighting Morocco's rich heritage as part of the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture.
On 4th November, Dr. Asmae El Kacimi, Assistant Professor in the Islamic Archaeology Department at the National Institute of Archaeology and Heritage (INSAP) in Rabat, presented "Revealing the Art of Colors in Bilad al-Maghrib: An Archaeological Investigation of Islamic Wall Painting (8th–14th Century)." The lecture examined the technical and material aspects of Islamic murals and their relationship with architectural settings.
On 19th November, Dr. Azzedine Kara, Director of the National Center for Studies and Research on Underwater Heritage in Rabat and Professor at Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University in Fes, presented "Underwater Archaeology between Research Passion and Preservation Responsibility: Insights into the Moroccan Experience."
