Ancient Libraries of Morocco

Qatar National Library hosted a series of lectures exploring the rich history of Morocco's ancient libraries as part of the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture. Moderated by QNL Senior Archivist Dr. Moez Dridi, the event featured three distinguished speakers who examined the evolution of these historic institutions from the medieval period to the present day.

Dr. Al-Khayali Abdelmajid, Head of Human Resources, Finance, and Scientific Research at the Hassania Library in Rabat, presented on the library's valuable manuscript collections. Dr. Mustafa Al-Tubi, Professor and Head of the Moroccan Manuscript Heritage Research Team at Ibn Zohr University, discussed manuscript science with a focus on the Zaydani Library. The event also featured Abdelfattah Boukchouf, Director of the Qaraouiyine Library in Fez.
