JEDARIART Truck Art
Wholesale area on Woqod Walls, Doha
JEDARIART brings together local artists in Qatar to add vibrancy and meaning to the walls across the city through curated murals and street art. The aim of JEDARIART is to activate urban areas through artistic intervention.
Hand painted trucks are a popular form of regional decoration in Pakistan and India with trucks featuring elaborate floral patterns, portraits, ornaments and calligraphy. The art form is becoming extinct as cheap DIY stickers and pre-painted trucks are easier to obtain now.
The Programme
- The programme celebrates and revives the truck driver community and the artform by the artists who decorate the trucks.
- Truck driver artists will be commissioned to create murals.
- Local artists and the community will participate in painting the walls with the Truck Driver artists.
The aim of the project is to activate a district with the truck art designs to celebrate and revive this artform with the aim of engaging the local communities in the area.
