Heya Arabian Fashion Exhibition
Doha Exhibition & Convention Centre (DECC)
Germany was the guest of honour at the Heya Arabian Fashion exhibition at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre in both the Spring and the Autumn of 2017.
Organised by Design Creations in collaboration with Qatar Tourism, the event showcased Qatar's homegrown design talents, with emerging designers, established brands and businesses participating.
With a focus on collaboration between the two nations, Heya Arabian Fashion gave ambitious young Qatari designers the opportunity to learn from the experience of an established German brand.
In Spring 2017, Years of Culture staged a panel discussion on the study of fashion design in Germany and Qatar. In the Autumn, Berlin fashion label Perret Schaad attended the exhibition to present several creations.
Impressive designs by Johanna Perret and Tutia Schaad were presented on the catwalk then put on display following the official opening ceremony.
At the close of the fashion show the two designers and Emma Hedi, fashion stylist and consultant, took part in a panel discussion on the opportunities and challenges for fashion labels brought by the internet and by social media.
