An encounter between Qatari and French cultures

This Years of Culture project lead to the the surprising encounter between a Qatari artist and Aubusson, resulting in a contemporary tapestry. Qatar has a strong textile and weaving tradition, creating refined textiles and embroideries. Qatar has also shown a great commitment to and interest in modern and contemporary art. In Aubusson, the relationship between the artist, creator of the model, and the weaver who interprets is at the heart of tapestry making. Great masters such as Picasso, Le Corbusier and many other have worked with Aubusson in the past.
