Pearls Exhibition

Museu de Arte Brasileira-Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado (MAB-FAAP), São Paulo, Brazil

“Pearls” was an exceptional exhibition on display at the Museu de Arte Brasileira-Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado (MAB-FAAP) in São Paulo as part of the Qatar-Brazil 2014 Year of Culture.

Pearls examined the way these jewels have been employed as a symbol of status and wealth in both the East and West for many centuries, and explained the important role Qatar played in the international pearl trade route.

Over 200 spectacular pieces of jewellery and works of art were displayed, showcasing the extraordinary variety of colours and shapes of natural and cultured pearls.

A flagship QM exhibition, Pearls was first displayed in 2012 at the Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art in Kobe, Japan as part of the Qatar-Japan 2012 Year of Culture, and then at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London during the Qatar-Uk 2013 Year of Culture.
