Presented by Qatar Museums , The Brazil Festival at Museum of Islamic Art Park in Doha was one of the most exciting events during the Qatar-Brazil 2014 Year of Culture.
The fun, colourful festival provided visitors with the opportunity to experience the energy and creativity of Brazil in Qatar during a week-long event series which included open-air concerts by some of Brazil’s leading popular, classical and jazz musicians.
The culture of Brazil was celebrated through live music, film, creative childrens’ activities, sports competitions and fitness workshops.
Musical highlights included performances by Chula Sao Braz, a 10-piece Samba band from Salvador de Bahia in the northeast of Brazil and Doha Jazz.
Families enjoyed outdoor film screenings of Rio, Rio 2 and Amazonia and well-known Brazilian artist Speto gave Graffiti Workshops, designing two special murals.
Other opportunities to learn about Brazilian culture included samba drumming workshops, carnival mask making, Capoeira demonstrations and workshops, Brazilian storytelling sessions and face painting.
Stands selling Brazilian street food gave local visitors the chance to taste new dishes and enjoy the flavours of Brazil.
