Qatar Street in Istanbul

In celebration of the Qatar-Turkey 2015 Year of Culture, HE Mr. Salim bin Mubarak Al Shafi, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Turkey, inaugurated “Qatar” Street in the district of Sarayer, one of Istanbul’s most prestigious neighbourhoods, overlooking the Bosphorus.
Formerly called “Istinye Bayiri,” the 3.5km street was inaugurated with a ceremony attended by esteemed guests including Turkish government and Istanbul municipality officials as well as diplomats and heads of Arab consular missions in Istanbul.
This was the second street in Turkey to be named after Qatar, after a first was launched on Qatar’s National Day in 2014, adjacent to the Presidential Republican Palace in Chanakaya, one of the most prestigious areas in Ankara.
