Community Event for Manga Artists and Enthusiasts in Doha

In partnership with the Anime Café & Store 974 we are hosting a community event for all the enthusiasts in the country to join us at Anime Café on 29th June for a chill get-together. You will also have an opportunity to participate in a mini manga competition and win exciting prizes! Reserve your place by emailing akotova@qm.org.qa

The event will connect local anime and manga enthusiasts and serve as a medium for cultural exchange and celebration, exhibiting art that illustrates the friendship between Qatari and Japanese culture. Manga, which means “cartooning” in Japanese, is Japanese comics or graphic novels with a distinct style that originated in Japan in the late 19th century.

Manga Style! Competition

In addition to the Anime Café community event, Years of Culture recently launched the second edition of “Manga Style!” in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Qatar and Geekdom – Doha Film Institute. Local artists are encouraged to showcase their visual storytelling skills by submitting manga stories that connect Qatari culture with Japanese cartooning style. The 1st place winner will receive a cash prize of QR 20,000, the 2nd place winner will receive QR 15,000 and the 3rd place winner will receive QR 10,000. To enter, visit our competition page!
