The Chinese Festival

Museum of Islamic Art (MIA)

The Chinese Festival was held in the Museum of Islamic Art park in Doha as part of the Qatar-China 2016 Year of Culture.

The festival featured Chinese markets, a Chinese teahouse, Chinese food stalls, a photography exhibition, cultural performances, Chinese film screenings and fun children's activities.

During the festival, the park was divided into different ‘zones’ including an entertainment zone, presenting musical performances, traditional dances, Chinese tea ceremonies and calligraphy demonstrations.

The exhibition zone showcased a photography exhibition featuring photographs taken by four Chinese and two Qatari photographers during a two-week expedition to one another’s home countries.

The market zone hosted interactive arts and crafts activities (including woodblock printing, rice sculpture  and kite-making workshops) and an entertaining Chinese puppet show. A variety of local and Chinese delicacies were also available to try at the festival.
