Pan-Amazon Book Fair

Belém, Brazil

During the Qatar-Brazil 2014 Year of Culture, Qatar was chosen as the country of honour at the 18th Pan-Amazonian Book fair in Belém.

For the first time since its inception, the biggest literary event in the north of Brazil honoured an Arab Gulf state with the theme: “Qatar–A Window to the Arab World”.

The eighteenth Pan-Amazon Book Fair featured a Qatari tent, which welcomed around 40,000 visitors each day.

Visitors to the Qatari tent had the opportunity to taste machbous and dates, have henna applied to their hands and have their names written in Arabic calligraphy. The tent also hosted educational sessions, cultural workshops and more.
