Nuit Blanche

Between Le Petit Palais and Place de la Concorde, Paris

As part of the Qatar-France 2020 Year of Culture artistic programme, Qatar Museums invited French studio Bonjour Lab to collaborate with Qatari artist Ghada Al Khater on The Jardin de Lumière for Nuit Blanche 2020 in Paris.

One of the artistic highlights of the 2020 programme, tickets for the creative installation were sold out during this important cultural night for Paris. The Jardin de Lumière is also one of the first digital public works of art in the Qatar Museums collection.

People walk across an interactive digital artwork designed to resemble a Persian rug at a contemporary arts event in Paris.

Jardin de Lumière was a monumental interactive installation offering a contemporary interpretation of the Persian rug, incorporating elements of Qatari visual culture. The multi-sensory and interactive work came to life under the footsteps of visitors, immersing them in a visual and sensory atmosphere invoking nature and Middle Eastern tradition.

The piece featured an immersive sound environment and typical scents that can be found in Qatar, with a specially created fragrance diffused in the space.

The Nuit Blanche event in Paris is an annual celebration of the contemporary arts, inviting spectators to discover the city by night. Public transport stays open all night as the French capital is filled with installations, exhibitions, concerts, performances, trails and more.
