In partnership with The University of Arizona, the Qatar Foundation’s Qur’anic Botanic Garden proudly presents the “Fostering Food Security in the Drylands” webinar — in consonance with the Qatar-USA 2021 Year of Culture.
The webinar focuses on innovative strategies for fostering food security in both Qatar and the United States Southwest. With both regions sharing challenges relating to the impact of a changing climate and growing resource limitations, including freshwater, both regions stand to benefit from fostering food security through the development and adoption of cutting-edge innovations that encompass, among others, artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, controlled-environment engineering, vertical farming, use of renewable energy as well as the incorporation of traditional local heirloom crops and edible native plants to achieve greater resilience in desert food systems.
Globally renowned scientists, engineers, and professors from both Qatar and Arizona serve as Invited Speakers and Resource Experts.
